09-28-08
At 14:52 on Thursday, September 28, Station 264 along with
Stations 262 and 174 were dispatched for a reported explosion in the area with
smoke showing in the area of 104 Fall Run Road and Fall Run Park in Shaler
Township. (262's District). Shaler PD requested that all fire units
stand-by in station until they see what they have. 262 Chief investigated
and found out that it was people setting off fireworks and that it would be a PD
problem. All 264 units went back into service at 14:59.

At 21:32 on Wednesday, September 24, 264
Engine 1 along with Station 149, 191 Truck, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a
smell of something burning inside a commercial structure at 118 Locust Street,
the Etna Elks Building, in the Borough of Etna. (149's District). 149
Interior reported it was a light ballast and that all units could reduce their
rate of response. 149 Operations requested a camera on the 4th Division to
sweep the area and requested another team sweep the 3rd Division. Interior
reported 2 isolated light ballasts on the 4th floor and another 2 bad ballasts
on the 3rd floor. Units wrapped up operations and all units went back into
service at 22:00.

At
17:18 on Wednesday, September 24, 264 Engine 1 along with Station 149, 191
Truck, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a man who dumped an ashtray with a lit
cigarette on the couch and can't find the lit cigarette and believed the couch
was out but wanted it checked at 58 Locust Street in the Borough of Etna. (149's
District). Etna PD arrived on scene and requested 1 unit respond
non-emergency to check. All other units were disregarded and Station 264
was put back in service at 17:23.

09-24-08
At 11:20 on Wednesday, September 24, Station 264 along with
261 Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched for a motor
vehicle accident with hazards in front of 408 Glenn Avenue in Shaler Township.
(264's District). A vehicle hit a telephone pole and sheared it off and
continued down Glenn toward Elm and a red flat bed pick-up truck with a
refrigerator on the back. 513 FM 1 arrived on scene and reported that
traffic control was needed and that units could come in at a reduced rate.
Duquesne Light was notified and 191 Fire Police were requested after 2 pages
with negative responses from 325. All fire units went back in service at
11:43.

At 19:18 on
Sunday, September 21, 264 Truck along with Station 149, 260 Engine 1, 191 Truck,
and 102 RIT were dispatched for a 3rd party report of smoke inside of a
residential structure with the smoke alarms going off at 12 Upper Spring Street
in the Borough of Etna. (149's District). 149 Assistant arrived on scene
and reported that it was only burnt food on the stove and that all units could
take a disregard. 264 Truck returned in service at
19:30.

At 18:35 on Wednesday, September 17, Station 264 along
with Stations 262, 174, and 263 were dispatched for a stove on fire inside of a
residential structure at 609 Glen Scott Drive Apartment B in Shaler Township.
(262's District). Caller reported that he believed that the fire was out, however he wanted fire units to
check. 262 Chief arrived on scene and reported nothing showing. He further reported that the
fire was put out by the resident and that there was a light smoke
condition inside. All units with the exception of 262 could
take a recall. All 264 units went back into service at
18:41.

At 17:26 on Wednesday,
September 17, Station 264 along with 261 Engine 1, 149 Engine 1, 262 Truck, 102
RIT, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched for a strong odor of natural gas inside
the building at 1463 Glenn Avenue, Three Rivers Harley Davidson, in Shaler
Township. (264's District). 264 Chief went into the scene and requested
all units respond non-emergency. 149 was ordered to stage behind 264 Truck
and bring a gas meter into the showroom. 261 Was given the same
instructions. After a full investigation, nothing was found and 264 Chief
returned all units. All 264 units went back into service at 17:43.

At 00:21 on Tuesday, September 16, Station 264 was
dispatched for a smell of something burning in the area of 1211 Orvis Avenue in
Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Engine responded and found it to be
burning leaves in a burn pit and that the owner had put it out. 264 Engine
went back into service at 00:34.

09-15-08
At 07:19 on Monday, September 15, Station 264 along with
Stations 262, 174, and 263 were dispatched for a residential structure fire at
124 Magnolia Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). Caller reported
smoke coming from the residence. Shaler PD were unable to locate a hydrant
in the area. 262 Chief arrived on scene and reported a one story brick
structure with light smoke showing from the exterior. Once a hydrant was
located, it was unable to be opened. 174 interior crew indicated that a
hydrant needed to be found, that they had working fire inside. Fire was
also in the walls. A hydrant was finally located and was opened. At
07:41, 262 Chief reported that the fire was under control. 262 Chief
requested that the Allegheny County and the Shaler Fire Marshal be notified as
well. A fireground was issued for operations and a fan was requested for
ventilation. 264 units were released and went back into service at
07:58.

electrical condition inside of a residential structure on Herron Lane in Shaler
Township. (261's District). After an interior investigation, there was a
problem with the electrical panel and was corrected. All units returned in
service. This was the last call for the eventful
evening!

residential structure at 2828 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (261's
District). Units removed the tree from the roof and returned in
service.

reported apartment building collapse at 1415 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler
Township. (264's District). 264 Chief arrived on scene and reported that
it was just siding that fell off the building. All units were returned
back in service.

This call was part of the massive amount of calls received
and dispatched to when the major winds moved through the region as part of the
remnants of Hurricane Ike. Allegheny County was under full emergency
operations this evening. Station 264 along with Stations 247, 191, 297,
and 253 were dispatched for a commercial fire alarm activation at Old Navy, in
Ross Park Mall in Ross Township. (247's District). 264 Truck was
dispatched on a fill for 247 Truck. 264 Truck was disregarded in
route.
Call # 155 09-14-08
At 11:56 on
Sunday, September 14, Station 264 along with Stations 262, 174, and 263
were dispatch for an oven fire inside of a residential structure at 304 South
Magnolia Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). Shaler Police
Officer 2124 arrived on scene and reported that the homeowner got a good knock
on the fire with an extinguisher. 262 assistant arrived on scene and
reported a light smoke condition inside the residence. He requested that
264 and 263 go back into service and 262 and 174 to remain on scene to
ventilate. They also removed the oven from the residence and all 264 units
were back in service at 12:08.

09-12-08
At 17:20 on Friday, September 12, 261 Rescue 3, 149 Rescue
1, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with
injuries in front of 1902 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's
District). 264 units were on the scene of call # 153 at the time of
dispatch. 264 Truck responded from the Middle School to the scene of the
accident. The initial report was for a two vehicle accident with a 35 year
old female with neck pains. Another report indicated a 15 year old female
with a possible arm injury and was still inside the car. Shaler PD arrived
on scene and confirmed the neck injury. 264 Chief arrived on scene and
reported one person trapped inside the vehicle. 261 Rescue 3 and 149
Rescue 1 responded to assist in extrication. The patient was extricated in
about 13 minutes. After a short period of clean-up, all units returned in
service at 17:40.
Call # 153 09-12-08
At
17:18 on Friday, September 12, Station 264 along with 261 Engine 1 were
dispatched for a commercial fire alarm activation at 1800 Mount Royal Boulevard
in Shaler Township at the Shaler Area Middle School. (264's District). 264
Chief arrived on scene and downgraded everyone to a non-emergency
response. After an investigation, it turned out to be a 3rd floor pull box
activation and there was no problem there. All units were back in service
at 17:24.
Call # 152 09-11-08
At 10:44 on
Thursday, September 11, Station 264 was dispatched for a CO alarm with no ill
effects at 1809 Vollmer Drive in Shaler Township. (264's District). Shaler
PD received a direct call into their station reporting the CO alarm. They
requested one unit non-emergency to check the residence. Dominion Peoples
Gas Company also responded. There was nothing found in the investigation
and Station 264 went back into service at 11:09.

At 20:00 on Wednesday, September 10, Station
264 along with Stations 262 and 174 were dispatched for an unknown type of fire
in the area of 104 Fall Run Road in Shaler Township. (262's District). 262
Captain reported alot of smoke in the area. Upon further investigation, it
was discovered to be an open burn and units were ordered to disregard. All
264 units were back in service at 20:05.

09-09-08
At 18:28 on Tuesday, September 9, 264 Truck along with
Station 261 and 164 Engine 1 were dispatched for a residential fire alarm
activation at 101 DeHaven Court in Shaler Township. (261's District). At
18:36, Shaler Police Officer 2147 arrived on scene and reported that it appeared
to be false and that all units could slow their response. 261 Command
reported that it was just burnt food and that all units could disregard.
All 264 units were back in service at 18:37.

09-04-08
At 19:46 on Thursday, September 4, Station 264 along with
Stations 262, 174, and 261 were dispatched for a strange chemical odor inside of
the residence at 2726 Tillia Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District).
262 Chief arrived on scene and downgraded everyone to a non-emergency
response. A minute later, he disregarded everyone with the exception of
262 Truck and 174 Engine 1. Station 264 Went back into service at
19:53.
Call # 148 09-03-08
At 08:01 on
Wednesday, September 3, 264 Engine along with Station 261 and 164 Rescue 1 were
dispatched vehicle that went over the hill on East Sutter Road in Shaler
Township. (261's District). The fire units were dispatched to 1661 East
Sutter Road in the area of Romp & Roll where the car ended up. PD
arrived on scene and reported no one inside the vehicle. 312 Rescue 40 was
also added to the assignment. Hampton Fire Police Commander blocked off
East Sutter at Mount Royal. 264 Assistant arrived on scene and had the
vehicle operator at Romp & Roll and stated that he was uninjured. At
that point there was no need for the fire units and all units went back into
service at 08:10.
Call # 147
09-02-08
At 08:36 on Tuesday, September 2, Station 264 was dispatched
on a fill for Station 261 for an elevator rescue at Saint Bonaventure Church,
2001 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (261's District). Female
called in to 911 reporting that she was stuck inside the elevator. Shaler
PD arrived on scene and were able to get her out and the fire department was not
needed. Station 264 went back in service at
08:40.
