At 03:08 on Friday, October 31, Station 264 was dispatched
to assist Shaler PD with a lighting detail at the scene of a motor vehicle
accident at Little Pine Creek Road and Wetzel Road in Shaler Township. m(264's
District). 264 Engine responded and went back into service at
04:16.

At 10:01 on Tuesday, October 28, Station 264 along with
Stations 262 and 174 were dispatched for a residential fire alarm activation at
405 Laurelwood Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). 174 Captain
arrived on scene and reported nothing showing and that all units could respond
in non-emergency. After an investigation, nothing was found and all units
were returned in service at 10:14.

At 23:00 on Monday, October 27, Station 264 along with
Stations 262, 174, and 261 were dispatched for a possible kitchen fire at 314
Holly Ridge Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). Caller reported a
lot of smoke in the kitchen and that the fire alarm was going off. Shaler
PD arrived on scene at 23:07 and reported nothing showing from the exterior and
that the closest hydrant would be at Kimble Drive and Holly Ridge Drive.
262 Chief arrived on scene and assumed command. He reported a smoke
condition, that the fire was out, and that all units could respond
non-emergency. At 23:11, 262 Chief reported that it was a candle and that
they were venting through the windows. 264 Truck and Engine were returned
in service at 23:12.

At 20:43 on Sunday, October 26, Station 264 was dispatched
for reported wires over the road that were sparking in the area of 801 Mount
Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District). Another caller
reported that toward Etna, near Kenneth Drive, there was a tree on wires and the
wires were holding the tree up. After an investigation by 264 Chief and
264 personnel on foot (since it was just outside our station), the cause was
determined to be two power lines that were twisted in front of 628 Mount Royal
Boulevard. Duquesne Light was notified and Station 264 went back into
service at 20:49.

At 14:47 on Thursday, October 23, 264 Engine along with
Station 261 and 164 Rescue 1 were dispatched for a reported car over a hill with
unknown entrapment in the area of Kleber Road and Virginia Avenue in Shaler
Township. (261's District). The caller was going to turn around to check
on the patient(s). Shaler PD arrived on scene and reported that there was
no injuries, no entrapment, and no need for the fire department. All units
went back into service at 14:48.

At 18:00 on Monday, October 20, 264 Truck along with Station
261, 164 Engine 1, 262 Truck, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a chimney fire
with smoke alarm activation in the residence at 219 Elfinwild Road in Shaler
Township. (261's District). 264 Engine stood by the hydrant and 264 Truck
laddered the building. There was a minor chimney fire and a bucket for hot
ash was all that was needed. 264 Squad was used for traffic control in
shutting off Elfinwild Road on the Mount Royal side of the incident. All
units were clear and back in service at 18:33.

At 09:43 on Monday, October 20, 264 Truck
along with Station 259, 261 Engine 1, 247 Engine 1, and 239 RIT were dispatched
for a strong smell of natural gas inside of a residential structure with
detectors going off and the family all ill at 804 Hill Street in Shaler
Township. (259's District). 264 Chief arrived on scene and assumed
command. He investigated and reported an odor of glue in the residence and
all patients were removed from the house. He also requested a
non-emergency response for all incoming units and ordered the house to be
checked with meters. 259 Captain arrived on scene and took command and
reported that it appears to be carpet glue. That report held true and all
units went back into service at 10:00.

At 18:45 on Sunday, October 19, 264 Truck along with Station
149, 260 Engine 1, 191 Truck, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a strong odor of
something on the 2nd floor of the building, unknown if its natural gas, at 13
Highland Avenue in the Borough of Etna. (149's District). At 18:51, Etna
PD arrived on scene and reported that all occupants were out of the building and
that there was a smell of natural gas inside. Equitable gas was notified
immediately. 264 Truck arrived on scene and was given orders by 149
Assistant to ladder the building. 264 Engine took the hydrant at Highland
and Grant. 149 Assistant reported a 3 story residential structure and that
crews were investigating. Interior crew reported that the 2nd floor was
clear and that the basement was clear as well. At 19:04, 149 Assistant
reported that there were no gas reading in the building and that all units could
return in service. Just after that report, interior crew reported that
there was a small leak in the gas line in the rear of the stove and that they
were attempting to remove the stove. All units stuck around for that and
everyone finally cleared the scene at 19:26.

At 18:30 on Saturday, October 18, (at the
same time as call # 190 was going on), 264 Truck along with Station 149, 260
Engine 1, 191 Truck, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a possible residential
structure fire in the area of Crescent Street and Butler Street in the Borough
of Etna. (149's District). Caller reported that it looked like a row of
houses was on fire in the area of Jack Sullivan Chevrolet. 264 Truck and
Engine diverted from call # 190 to respond. 149 Chief arrived in the area
and reported nothing showing. Etna PD also had the same report. The
caller called back and said that it was in the area of the Blarney Stone and
said that it looked like smoke was coming from one of the houses. 149
Chief requested that all units disregard with the exception of 149 Rescue and
264 Truck and that it was apparently going to be a good intent call. After
a little more investigating, nothing was found and 149 and 264 units cleared the
area. Station 264 went back into service at 18:45.

At 18:24 on Saturday, October 18, Station
264 was dispatched for a transformer that exploded and was still sparking in
front of 1005 Glenshaw Avenue in Shaler Township. (264's District). The
caller stated that all lights along Route 8 were out as well. There was
nothing that the fire department could do and Duquesne Light was notified.
All 264 units went back into service at 18:45.

At 12:41 on Saturday, October 18, Station 264 along with 261
Engine 1 were dispatched for a commercial fire alarm re-activation at the
Pinemont Apartments, 823 Mount Royal Boulevard, in Shaler Township. (264's
District). 264 Truck requested 261 units take a disregard.
After an investigation inside, nothing was found once again and the owner of the
building was contacted and said that she and the alarm company would respond to
check the problem with the alarm system. All 264 units went back into
service at 12:58.

At
11:51 on Saturday, October 18, Station 264 along with 261 Engine 1 were
dispatched for a commercial fire alarm activation at the Pinemont Apartments,
823 Mount Royal Boulevard, in Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Truck
requested 261 units respond in non-emergency. After an investigation
inside, nothing was found and units cleared the scene. All 264 units went
back into service at 12:08.

At 20:19 on Wednesday, October 15, 264 Truck along with
Station 149, 260 Engine 1, 191 Truck, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a smell of
something electrical burning inside a residential structure at 25 Mount Hope
Street in the Borough of Etna. (149's District). Caller called back and
said that it seemed to be fading and was advised to evacuate; again. 149
Command reported that it was a ceiling fan motor that burned out and that 149
and 260 units could handle it and 191, 264, and 102 units could return in
service. All 264 units went back into service at 20:33.

At 18:58 on Tuesday, October 14, 264 Truck along with
Station 261, 164 Engine 1, 262 Truck, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a report
of smoke coming from a commercial structure, or behind it, in the area of
William Flynn Highway (Route 8) and East Elfinwild Road in Shaler Township.
(261's District). 164 Assistant arrived in the area and reported that
there was nothing showing. 261 Chief arrived in the area and assumed
command. At 19:05, 261 Chief requested that all incoming units respond in
non-emergency. After investigating further, it was discovered to be a wood
burner producing the smoke and the odor. All units went back into service
at 19:12.

Around 06:00 on Saturday, October 11, Station 264 along with
Stations 262, 174, and 263 were dispatched for an odor of natural gas inside of
a residential structure on Glenn Malcolm Drive in Shaler Township. (262's
District). 262 Chief arrived on scene and reported that all 264 and 263
units could disregard and 262 and 174 would handle the incident. All 264
units returned in service around 06:20.

At 17:54 on Thursday, October 9, 264 Truck along with
Stations 164, 165, 261, and 188 were dispatched for a reported stove on fire
inside of a residential structure at 2437 Linden Drive in Hampton Township.
(164's District). 164 Assistant arrived on scene and reported that
everyone with the exception of 164 Engine 1 could return in service. 264
Truck went back into service at 18:02.

At 11:29 on Wednesday, October 8, Station 264 along with 261
Engine 1, 149 Engine 1, 262 Truck, 102 RIT, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched
for a strange odor inside the stores of the plaza, with many people feeling ill
at 1706 Mount Royal Boulevard in the Mount Royal Shopping Center in Shaler
Township. (264's District). People in Wine and Spirits, Citizens Bank, and
the Shaler Lounge were feeling ill. Caller stated that it smells
electrical, however no smoke or flames were seen. Port Authority was
contacted to see if they could get a bus to respond to the scene for the
patients. 264 Chief found contractors working on scene and requested that
all units come in non-emergency. Upon further investigation, Shaler PD
found workers in the rear of the old Foodland working with chemicals. All
fire units returned in service at 12:02.

Call # 182 was an accidental trip of the fire alarm at
Station 264 by electrical contractors on scene on Tuesday, October 7 at
13:20. No problem at the Station.

At 19:30 on Thursday, October 2, 264 members assisted Shaler
EMS Station 170 at the Shaler Lounge, 1702 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler
Township with a 65 year old female with difficulty breathing, turning very pale,
and was said to have post-traumatic stress due to the accident, although she was
not involved in the accident. Hampton EMS Station 145 and Etna 149 QRS
were dispatched to assist. 264 members cleared the scene at
19:49.

At 18:49 on Thursday, October 2, (at the same time as call # 179 was going on),
Station 264 along with 261 Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and 325 Fire Police were
dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment in front of 1800 Mount
Royal Boulevard, the Shaler Area Middle School, in Shaler Township. (264's
District). Multiple callers reported a vehicle rollover with
entrapment. 261 Assistant arrived on scene and reported 2 cars involved,
one rolled over with both patients entrapped. 262 units were at the light
at Wetzel and Mount Royal at the time on their way to the Shaler Township
Fireman's Training Center, and they asked 261 Assistant if he would like them to
assist. 261 Assistant answered affirmatively and they proceeded into the
scene. 264 Engine and Squad were on their way to the call on Erin Street
when the turned around and went to the scene on Mount Royal Boulevard. At
19:01, both patients were extricated. At 19:12, Command
reported that 264 and 261 units were going to remain on scene and the rest of
the units could return in service. 264 Engine and Squad returned in
service at 19:31.

At 18:39 on Thursday, October 2, 264 Truck along with
Station 260, 191 Truck, 259 Engine 2, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a reported
chimney fire at 300 Erin Street in Shaler Township. (260's District).
Shaler PD reported that the closest hydrant was at Old Suess and Oakwood.
After a short time on scene, 260 Chief reported that the fire was out and that
the scene was under control. 264 Truck returned in service at
19:00.
Call # 178 10-02-08
At 15:28 on Thursday, October 2, Station 264 along with
261 Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched for a motor
vehicle accident with injuries in front of 1500 Mount Royal Boulevard, Bock
Funeral Home, in Shaler Township. (264's District). Shaler PD arrived on
scene and reported that a male patient was complaining of chest pains and then
past out. They then reported that the male was altered level, had a strong
pulse, and was still on the ground. They also reported that there was no
need for the fire department. All fire units went back into service at
15:34.
