Call # 220
11-29-08
At 20:19 on Saturday, November 29, 264 Truck along with
Station 261, 259 Engine 2, 247 Truck, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a strong
odor of natural gas inside of a residential structure at 809 Vilsack Road in
Shaler Township. (261's District). 259 Engine 2 was given orders to
stand-by at the hydrant at Vilsack and Anderson and 264 Truck and Engine along
with 247 Truck were given orders to come straight into the scene. 261
Assistant arrived on scene and assumed command. After a primary
investigation, he released 149 RIT and 259 Engine 2. Following a secondary
investigation, no readings were found and all units went back into service at
20:42.

At 16:43 on Saturday, November 29, Station 264 along with
261 Engine 1, 149 Engine 1, and 102 RIT were dispatched for a reported garbage
disposal on fire inside of a residential structure at 1115 Orvis Avenue in
Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Lieutenant 2 was the first on scene
and went in to investigate. He reported that the disposal was smoking,
that there was no fire, and that all units could respond in non-emergency.
264 Lieutenant 2 disconnected the power to the disposal. 264 Assistant
then arrived on scene and requested that all units with the exception of 264
disregard. 264 Engine responded and brought a thermal imaging camera and a
heat gun. After a brief further investigation, there were no other
problems and all units went back into service at 16:57.

11-27-08
At 14:13 on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, and
while Call # 217 was going on, 264 Engine and 149 Rescue diverted to 530
McElheny Road in Shaler Township for a flooded basement with 4 inches of water
inside. 149 Assistant 2 requested a representative from the Shaler Water
Department for a water main break. There was nothing any fire units could
do and all units went back into service at 14:32.

At 14:13 on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday,
November 27, 264 Truck along with Station 261, 164 Engine 1, 262 Truck, and 149
RIT were dispatched for a stove on fire inside of a residential
structure at 128 Orchard Avenue in Shaler Township. (261's District).
Caller called back and reported that she believed that the fire was out, but
cannot be sure. 261 Captain arrived on scene and assumed command and
reported a 2 story structure with nothing showing, next Engine in take the
hydrant at 114 Orchard. After an investigation, the fire was out and all
units went back into service at 14:25.

At 17:58 on Tuesday, November 25, 264 Truck along with
Station 261, 164 Engine 1, 247 Truck, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a
microwave on fire inside of a residential structure at 3100 Albine Drive in
Shaler Township. (261's District). 164 Assistant reported a motor vehicle
accident near DeHaven Court and advised all units to use caution due to bad road
conditions. A Firefighter from 246 who works for Comcast was in the area
and reported that fire to be out. 261 Engine arrived on scene and reported
a single story residential structure with nothing showing. Shaler PD 2154
arrived on scene and reported the fire out as well. All units went back
into service at 18:13.

11-25-08
At 16:27 on Tuesday, November 25, Station 264 was dispatched
for a CO alarm activation with no ill effects at 5 Ridge Avenue in Shaler
Township. (264's District). Residents just arrived home and turned up the
furnace and were advised to evacuate. 264 Engine crew investigated and
found it to be bad batteries in the detector. All 264 units went back into
service at 17:01.

At
14:31 on Monday, November 24, Station 264 was dispatched for a CO alarm
activation with no ill effects with the residents advised to evacuate at
1508 Zeuger Street in Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Engine crew
metered the residence, no readings were found, and 264 Engine went back in
service at 14:47.

At 07:24 on Monday, November 24, 264 Truck along with
Station 261 and 247 Engine 1 were dispatched for a commercial fire alarm
activation at Saint Bonaventure Church, 2001 Mount Royal Boulevard in
Shaler Township. (261's District). Allegheny County 911 Dispatch
reported an open line with the fire alarms sounding in the background. The
line disconnected and there was no answer on callback. Shaler PD 2147
arrived on scene and reported that it appeared to be a problem with the elevator
on the delta side. 261 Assistant arrived on scene and assumed
command. Per Shaler PD, it was set off by dust. All units went back
into service at 07:42.

on Wednesday, November 19, 264 Truck participated in a public service detail
at the Shaler North Hills Library, 1822 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District).
264 Truck was back in service at
13:10.
Call # 211 11-18-08
At 10:03 on Tuesday,
November 18, 264 Truck along with Stations 164, 165, 261, and 174 were dispatched
for an appliance smoking in the bakery area at the BP gas station, 3915
Route 8, Hampton Township. (164's District). 165 Lieutenant arrived on scene and
reported a cooler motor that burned up and disregarded units not on scene.
264 Truck went back into service at 10:15.

At 18:53 on Monday, November 17, Station 264 along with 261
Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and 325 Fire Police were dispatched for a motor vehicle
accident with hazards at the intersection of Mount Royal Boulevard and Braun
Street in Shaler Township. (264's District). Caller reported one vehicle
with heavy front end damage and that it was smoking. One female was also
complaining of neck pain. 264 Assistant arrived on scene and reported that
the rescue's could disregard and that 264 units could respond in non-emergency
for clean-up. 264 units were switched to a fireground as another detail
was being dispatched. Shaler PD reported that fire and EMS units were
blocking the road and that Shaler Fire Police did not need to be
re-dispatched. 264 Engine and Squad went back into service at
19:29.

At 16:23 on
Monday, November 17, Station 264 along with Stations 262 and 174 were dispatched
for an odor of natural gas inside a residential structure at 407 Laurelwood
Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). 174 Engine
1 arrived on scene and 174 Chief established command. At 16:32, he
requested all units respond in non-emergency and EMS will need to respond to
check one resident. 264 units were disregarded and went back into service
at 16:43.

Monday, November 17, Station 264 along with Stations 262 and 174 were dispatched
for a residential fire alarm activation at 405 Laurelwood Drive in Shaler
Township. (262's District). 262 Chief arrived on scene and reported a
two story brick structure with nothing showing and established command.
After an investigation, it was found to be a faulty battery and all units
returned in service at 04:06.

Beginning at 08:45 on Monday, November 10, 264 Truck
participated in two public service details at Mount Royal Boulevard and
Vilsack Road and in front of 700 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler
Township. 264 Truck was back in service at
09:42.

At 00:42 on
Sunday, November 9, Station 264 was requested for assistance by Shaler PD for an
Engine to respond with a ladder, non-emergency, to the right side of the
building at 1415 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's
District). The Engine was requested to access off of Hoffman and to pull
in front of the Shaler PD Charger with a quiet approach. At 00:46, Shaler
PD requested that the Engine cancel. They went back in service at
00:47.

At 14:32 on
Wednesday, November 5, Station 261, 247 Engine 1, and 264 Truck were dispatched
for a commercial fire alarm activation at 705 Scott Avenue in Shaler Township at
the Rogers Primary School. (261's District). Allegheny County 911 Dispatch
updated the responding units that the alarm company called back and received
proper code, and stated that the location was doing a fire drill and forgot to
put the system in test mode. All units went back into service at
14:38.

Beginning at
08:27 on Tuesday, November 4, 264 Truck and Squad participated in a public
service detail at Mount Royal Boulevard and Vilsack Road in Shaler
Township. Both units were back in service at 10:22.

At 08:32 on Tuesday, November 4, Station 264
was dispatched for a smell of gas outside in the area of 900 Mount Royal
Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District). After an investigation,
Dominion Gas Company was notified and the source was determined to be from a
prior repair on East Undercliff Street. All 264 units were back in service
at 08:43.

Monday, November 3, 264 Truck along with Station 261, 174 Engine 1, 164 Engine
1, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a strong odor of natural gas inside of a
residential structure at 1005 Rutgers Drive in Shaler Township. (261's
District). At 18:39, it was reported to be a CO alarm activation, not a
gas odor, and that all companies with the exception of 174 and 261 can return in
service. Command then reported it to be a possible furnace problem in the
residence, low readings were found on the meter, and the rest of the companies
were returning. All units were back in service at
18:49.

At 03:01 on Saturday, November 1, 264 Engine along with
Station 261 and 164 Rescue 1 were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with
hazards at Wible Run Road and McElheny Road in Shaler Township. (259's
District). Caller reported a vehicle into a telephone pole that sheared
with wires down. Another caller reported that nothing was sparking or on
fire, but the SUV was trying to leave. 259 Assistant arrived on scene and
confirmed one vehicle into a pole and stated that it would be in 259's District,
not 261's. Station 259 was dispatched and all other units could disregard
with the exception of 259. Duquesne Light was also notified. 264
Engine went back into service at 03:09.
