Call # 15
01-28-09
At 23:21 on Wednesday, January 28, Station 264 along with
261 Engine 1, 149 Engine 1, 102 RIT, and Shaler Fire Police 325 were dispatched
for an odor of natural gas inside of a residential structure at 146 East
Undercliff Street in Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Lieutenant 2
arrived on scene and reported a 2 story brick structure with nothing
showing. He requested all units to respond in non-emergency and 102 RIT to
disregard. After an investigation, no readings were found and all units
went back into service at 23:37.

At 17:10 on Wednesday, January 28, Station 264, 261 Rescue
3, 149 Rescue 1, and Shaler Fire Police 325 were dispatched for a motor vehicle
accident with an infant involved in the area of 1493 Butler Plank Road in Shaler
Township. (264's District). Shaler PD arrived on scene and reported that
there was no need for fire units. 264 Chief requested a non-emergency
response for all units until 261 Chief could confirm the Police report.
All units went back into service at 17:21.

At 15:27 on Friday, January 23, Station 264, 261 Rescue 3,
149 Rescue 1, and Shaler Fire Police 325 were dispatched for a motor vehicle
accident with unknown injuries in front of Don Royal Cleaners, 1107 Mount Royal
Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District). All parties were then
reported to be out of the vehicles and walking around. 264 Assistant
arrived on scene and reported only one unit needed for containment. 264
Engine responded and returned back in service at 15:50.

Beginning at 08:58 on Friday, January 23, 264
Truck participated in a public service detail at the Shaler North Hills Library,
1822 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Truck
went back into service at 13:44.

01-22-09
At 17:25 on Thursday, January 22, Station 264 along with 261
Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and Shaler Fire Police 325 were dispatched for a Motor
Vehicle Accident with unknown injuries at the intersection of Wetzel Road and
Little Pine Creek Road in Shaler Township. (264's District). Caller
reported a pick-up truck off to the side of the road. Another caller
reported a second vehicle that slid down the hill and off the road into a
ditch. 264 Captain arrived on scene and reported that there was no
injuries in either case and that all units could go back into service. All
264 units were clear at 17:32.

01-19-09
At 11:01 on Monday, January 19, Stations 191 and 239 were
dispatched for a CO Alarm with ill effects at 101 Grant Avenue in the Borough of
Millvale. (191's District). 49 year old male feeling dizzy and having
difficulty breathing. The assignment was upgraded to a commercial
structure fire assignment at 11:07 and 149 Engine 1, 260 Truck, 247 Truck, 102
RIT, 312 Rescue 40, 259 Engine 2, 240 Engine 1, 246 Engine 1, 265 Truck, 264
Truck, 240 Accountability, 247 Engine 1, 191 Fire Police, and 239 Fire
Police were dispatched. Millvale Police Chief 3201 arrived on scene and
reported one confirmed patient so far and the building was 3 stories with 8
apartments on each floor. There was also a smell of gas outside and
evacuation of the building began. Equitable Gas was immediately
notified. 264 Truck was given orders to stage side alpha and be ready to
set the truck up. Many units were requested to stand by at
nearby hydrants. Port Authority was also notified for a
bus. At one point, crews were unable to gain access to Apartment 3A, but
then all clear was given for the building. At 11:33, 191 Command requested
that the bus cancel and held the assignment to 260 Truck, 264 Truck, and 239
units. There were no reading found in the apartments, one male was
transported to the hospital, and all units went back into service at
11:53.

01-18-09
At 23:46 on Sunday, January 18, Station 264 was dispatched
for a possible furnace problem inside of a residence at 1211 Orvis Avenue in
Shaler Township. (264's District). 264 Lieutenant 2 arrived on scene and
requested 264 Engine non-emergency to meter the residence to put the residents
mind at ease. After metering the house, nothing was found. It was
determined to be a doorbell causing a sound in the house. All 264 units
went back into service at 00:12.

01-18-09
At 19:31 on Sunday, January 18, 264 Truck along with Station
261 and 247 Engine 1 were dispatched for a residential fire alarm activation at
120 Shadycrest Drive in Shaler Township. (261's District). Just after
dispatch, the alarm company called back and reported a false activation and
requested a disregard. 261 Chief went to the scene to confirm the
false. Station 264 went back into service at
19:32.
Call # 07 01-14-09
At 08:45 on
Wednesday, January 14, Station 264, 149 Rescue 1, 261 Rescue 3, and Shaler
Fire Police 325 were dispatched for a vehicle that sheared off a gas meter at
408 Mount Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. (264's District). After a
few moments, Allegheny County 911 Dispatch alerted all units that they had made
an error and that it was actually going to be 4018 Mount Royal Boulevard in
Hampton Township. (164's District). Stations 164 and 165 were dispatched
to handle the call. Hampton FM1 arrived on scene and requested all units
disregard. Station 264 went back into service at 08:57.

At 10:53 on Monday, January 12, Station 261
was dispatched for a CO Alarm with no ill effects at 203 Iola Street in Shaler
Township. (261's District). After two pages with no response from Station
261, Station 264 was dispatched for the call at 11:00. 264 Engine
responded and found reading od 15 ppm in the living room and 9 ppm in the
garage. The responding crew ventilated the house and then metered the
residence again and found 0 ppm. 264 Engine went back into service at
11:51.

01-10-09
At 17:33 on Saturday, January 10, Station 264 along with 261
Rescue 3, 149 Rescue 1, and Shaler Fire Police 325 were dispatched for a
reported motor vehicle accident, rollover with entrapment, at Glenn Avenue and
Butler Plank Road in Shaler Township. (264's District). At 17:35, 264
Captain arrived on scene and reported no entrapment, no need for EMS, and
requested all units disregard with the exception of 264 Engine. 264
Assistant arrived on scene and reported that 264 Engine and 325 Fire Police
could return in service, only a tow truck was needed. All units went back
into service at 17:40.

01-06-09
At 10:59 on Tuesday, January 6, Station 261 was dispatched
for a strong odor of natural gas outside on Sutter Road between Thompson and
Mount Royal. (261's District). After being toned out twice with no
response, Station 264 was dispatched on a fill at 11:11. Prior to Station
264 being dispatched, at 11:03, Shaler PD arrived on the scene and reported a
strong odor between 608 and 610 Sutter Road. 264 Engine responded and
264 Lieutenant 2 established command. At 11:18, he requested that the
gas company be notified. 261 Chief arrived on scene well later and command
was transferred to him. All 264 units went back into service at
11:36.

At 15:29 on
Monday, January 5, 264 Truck along with Station 261, 259 Engine 2, 247 Truck,
and 149 RIT were dispatched for a reported natural gas leak inside the basement
of a residential structure at 303 Forliview Road in Shaler Township. (261's
District). At 15:38, 261 Assistant arrived on scene and reported a ranch
structure and requested 259 Engine to grab a hydrant. He then requested
Shaler EMS to respond for a psych evaluation. After a brief investigation,
nothing was found and all units went back into service at
15:47.

01-03-09
At
13:03 on Saturday, January 3, 264 Truck along with
Station 261, 259 Engine 2, 247 Truck, and 149 RIT were dispatched for a smell of
something burning inside of the residence at 1013 Wible Run Road in Shaler
Township. (259's District - originally dispatched at 261's District). 261
Lieutenant arrived on scene and reported an electrical odor, no fire, and all
units could slow their response. He then reported that all units with
the exception of 261 Engine could return in service. 259 Engine arrived on
scene and 259 Deputy took command. 259 Chief then advised Allegheny
County 911 Dispatch that it was actually 259's District. All 264
units went back into service at 13:12.

At 18:24 on Friday, January 2, 264
Truck and Engine along with Station 262, 263 Engine 1, and 174 Engine 1 were
dispatched for a reported stove on fire inside the residence at 413-A Glen
Malcolm Drive in Shaler Township. (262's District). Shaler PD Officer 2111
arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition in the house, the fire was
believed to be out and requested that all units slow their response. 262
Truck arrived on scene at 18:33 and requested all units respond in
non-emergency. They then disregarded all units and all 264 units went back
into service at 18:34.
